Since forming in 2012, The Balabustah Quartet have been enthusiastically received wherever they have performed including venues such as the Bow Arts Trust, the Apricot Gallery (Brick Lane) and the Poetry Cafe (Covent Garden).

Balabustah was originally a duo founded by Chris taylor and Dov Levitski in 2000 to play Klezmer and traditional European European music which they performed all over London.

They were joined by ‘Hot Club’ officianados Andy Ruiz Palma and Paul Malloy in 2011. Andy and Paul have played in numerous jazz bands ranging from New Orleans style combos to Django Reinhardt Gypsy Jazz ensembles. Apart from performing in hot club combos for weddings, parties and corporate events they have performed as part of Gypsy Jazz quintet ‘La Bouche Manouche’ at many venues including the legendary ‘Le QuecumBar’.

The influence of the Balabustah Quartet’s various backgrounds, classical, ceilidh and swing/gypsy jazz, combine to give a unique flavour to their repertoire of traditional Eastern European and Klezmer music.
